(TOKYO) - Japanese computer users will communicate graphically over the
Internet in their native language when new RIPscrip-3 software is released
in Tokyo later this year.

Japan's powerful Ministry of International Trade and Industry has funded
development of "RIP-J", a Japanese version of RIPscrip-3 multimedia
technology, as part of that nation's "Network 2000" Project, an initiative
to create the world's most advanced telecommunications system.

RIPscrip-3 is attracting wide attention in the Japanese Internet community,
and Media Interface Co. Ltd. of Tokyo is now promoting its adoption as a
multimedia standard for the Japanese computer industry.

RIPscrip-3 makes it possible to use any language on the Internet, including
those using Asian, Middle Eastern or other character systems.
